People Fest

People so much enjoyed the Town of Wadesboro's 200th birthday celebration that it was continued by popular demand for 24 years. For various reasons, People Fest will not be held in 2007, but will re-sechedule for October 2008.

Ansonville Homecoming

Celebrated the first weekend in November (Nov. 3, 2007), the Ansonville Homecoming starts on Friday with chicken, beef or pork barbecue served at the Volunteer Fire Department from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. (same hours Saturday). Cost is $7 a plate, eat-in or take-out. On Saturday, the celebration continues with an antique car show, old timey farm tractor display, custom motorcycle display, craft show at the elementary school, helicopter rides, entertainment for children, and a gospel sing at the school Saturday evening. The parade starts at 3 p.m. and includes local high school bands. The Discover Anson Bike Ride is held as a part of the celebration. Cyclists may register between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. at Ansonville Elementary School; cost is $25.The first ride, 47 miles, begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by a 29.9 mile ride and endng with a 13.6 mile ride. Polkton Fun Day

The Town of Polkton celebrated its first "Polkton Fun Day" on September 4, 2004. Craft and informational booths, food, entertainment by "The Village Green" and the Sonic Wave Cloggers, a Pet Show and a Petting Zoo were among the attractions.

October Festival

The Town of Morven held its first-ever October Festival on October 2, 2004. Plenty of food was available, including barbecue. Craft and informational booths lined the street and chairs were set up to view entertainment on the stage. The fourth annual festival will be held October 6, 2007. Festival hours are 10:00 a.m. until.

Ag Expo and Fair

The third annual Ag Expo and Fair will be held September 22, 2007 at the Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro. See the "Fair Rules and Regulations" booklet, available at the Anson County Extension Center (phone 704-694-2415); or at any Anson County town hall, post office, library, chamber of commerce or various businesses.
